Old Fallings House
An In-Depth History
Old Fallings House (now a part of Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Sports College) is a Grade II listed building and has a fascinating history: originally a family manor house. It would have been the only manor house in the Fallings Park area of Wolverhampton, surrounded by huge fields of farmland and housed the Gough and Paget family throughout the centuries. It has undergone very little change since its construction by Sir Walter Gough, and is still standing, very similar to the house it was once intended to be. The 2 storey house with an attic contains oak panelling, marble fireplaces and beautiful stone work, all original features. The house is a classic example of early 18th century manor houses, with the site it is built on also having significance: an area shrouded in history.
